With that in mind, one cannot really expect it to do grunge or metal or any other high-gain sound. It's not all that great but people if you would just read the description of the amp it says "clean to MILDLY DISTORTED".

I have to agree with everyone else about the overdrive. The clean channel has a nice warm sound SIMILAR to a tube amp but does not precisely nail it to a "T".

The fact that it has Jensen speakers was appealing also, plus it sorta has that "vintage" look to it like an old Fender. The reverb and chorus pretty much stay on all the time. I like most of the effects, although some are kinda cheesy. Plus I was tired of lugging around a bunch of effects & this has them built in. Got this from Musicians Friend for $199 because my present main amp was getting out of date ('84). Probably because it is too much of a good value! If you get a chance to get one of these bad boys, do it! You cannot go wrong! I also heard they were discontinuing this amp. I have seen amps going for twice as much as this one that don't even come close. I would rely on this amp to perform well anywhere. It is a very sophisticated piece of equipment. You need to spend some quality time together locked in a room to get just the sound you need out of it. This isn't an amp you can just take home, plug in and start wailing. It has all these great sounds that would be nice to mix them up a bit. The only thing I can say about this amp I didn't like would be the ability to use more than one effect at a time. The 2-10's sung loud and clear when called upon, and the mixing of the "dirty" channel took a little time to get the sound I was looking for, but eventually I found the sound I needed. No one could believe I only paid two hundred bucks for it.Īlso, it's not as heavy as a lot of other combo amps. It was plenty loud at my gig with my 5-piece band.

It took a little while to figure out how to program the various parameters on the amp, but spending a little time with it made me know it that much better. It has effects, amp modeling, morphing, tow channels, enough inputs and outputs to satisfy any possible combination of requirements. I was looking for an amp that would cater to a medium volume classic rock band, and a 5 piece country act I also play in. I bought this unit from Palen Music in Columbia, Missouri. Sure, you can't play at an arena in front of 10000 people, but for practice, this make perfect! It looks like one of those Vintage Fender's that sell for 700 bucks! If you are a begginer or the next Steve Vai, this amp is definitley worth every penney. Not just for the price, but the durability, but for the look too. If I had to go back and choose again between those 3 amps, I'd still pick this one. It only has a few dents and scratches, but that makes it look more like a well-used amp! The overall construction is very well built for this price range! I haven't dropped it off my deck or anyhting, but i can sit on it and play and it has got knocked over once or twice at insane practices. The other thing I don't like is the knobs stick out to far from the edge of the amp itself, so after a year of practicing and moving it around i lost one of the effect parameter knobs! But it still works fine! Now it is effortless moving it around (and fun too!). I absolutley hate the overdrive channel, i need thick, heavy distortion for jam sessions and i still have to use my Digitech Metal Master to get it! But I can live with it! I also got tired of lugging the thing (probably 40-50 lbs) to practice all the time, so I got some cheap casters and put them on it. You can hook up a tape player/recorder and lay down some rhythm and play lead to it! It seems to be fairly well built too! I also like having the versatility with all of the I/O in the back. It also has a crisp clean channel that stays clean even at high levels (6 or above), which is because of the great Jensen 10"ers. I like the effects and how much you can change each one's parameters, not to mention the effects are of pretty high quality for this price range. The only difference was the price, there was a 100+ dollar difference! This was about a year and 4 months ago and now it costs like $150.00! I had been checking out other 50-65 watt amps like the Fender Princeton 65, a Crate 65 watt, and a Rouge, NEVER BUY A ROUGE,stuff like that.
